Chiropody or Podiatry
To work in the NHS, you need to be registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC) and have a BSc from a school of podiatry at a University. Courses must be approved by the HPC. Applicants generally need 2 A levels, one of which should normally be a science. Alternative qualifications may be acceptable, such as approved, Access, VCE or Scottish qualifications.
Radiography
It is a requirement that Radiographers must be registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC). The NHS employs 90% of all radiographers, with other opportunities in private clinics and industry. There are about 18,000 registered radiographers in the UK. The ratio of diagnostic to therapeutic radiographers is ten to one.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists need to be registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC). Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy entitles you to use the letters MCSP after your name.
Dietetics
Dietitians need to be registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC). This means first obtaining either a BSc in dietetics or a postgraduate qualification, if your first degree is in an appropriate subject. Courses must be approved by the HPC.
